Counseling Criteria 

The admission to the B.E./B.Tech. programs at Thapar University will be done on the basis of scores obtained in JEE Main 2023. Students appearing in the qualifying examination (10+2) are also eligible to apply. Such candidates will be placed provisionally on the merit list. They will not be considered for admission if they fail to submit proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of counseling.

Mode 1 

Mode – 1: (Based on JEE Main – 2023 score) for 70% of seats.
70% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of percentile-based merit of JEE Main – 2023.

Eligibility

1. The Student has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST Category Students) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational subject OR Minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST Category Students) marks in a Diploma recognized by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3-year duration.
2. The Student has appeared in JEE (Main)-2023.
3. The Student possesses a good moral character.
4. The Student is a citizen of India.
5. The Student has passed the 10+2 examination in 2022 or appeared in 2023.

BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) program

In addition to the eligibility mentioned in (I), admission to BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) programs shall be conducted through the following two modes as well.

Eligibility

1. The Student has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST Category Students) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and, Biology.
2. The Student has appeared in NEET – 2023.
3. The Student possesses a good moral character.
4. The Student is a citizen of India.

(Based on 10+2 marks in PCM) for 30% of seats.

30% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational subject

1. The candidate has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 75% marks (70% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics, and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Technical Vocational subject.
2. The candidate possesses a good moral character.
3. The candidate is a citizen of India.
4. The candidate has passed the 10+2 examination in 2022 or appeared in 2023.

(Based on 10+2 marks in PCB) for 30% of the available seats

30% of the available seats in BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and, Biology. In the final round of counseling, any seat remaining vacant through Mode-1 shall be filled through Mode-2 and vice versa.

Eligibility

1. The candidate has passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 75% marks (70% for SC/ST candidates) in an aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry, and, Biology.
2. The candidate possesses a good moral character.
3. The candidate is a citizen of India.

Seat Allotment 

The first list of selected candidates as per merit in JEE Mains – 2023 for various categories shall be displayed on the Institute website (www.thapar.edu). These selected candidates shall be required to deposit the total fee by the prescribed last date of the respective programs failing which his/her candidature shall stand canceled and shall not be considered for the subsequent lists under any circumstances. Such candidates shall be left with no right on any count whatsoever.
