Admission Process Flow
Admission to IIT Hyderabad is strictly entrance-based. For B.Tech programs, candidates must qualify for JEE Main followed by a top rank in JEE Advanced and participation in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling. B.Des admissions are conducted through the UCEED entrance exam. For postgraduate programs, M.Tech applicants must have a valid GATE score and participate in COAP counseling. M.Sc admissions require IIT JAM, while M.Des requires CEED scores. PhD admissions are based on GATE/NET/CEED scores followed by written tests and personal interviews. International students may have separate application channels through DASA or direct applications.
General Eligibility Criteria
For B.Tech: Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and secured at least 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. They must also meet the age requirements specified by the JEE Advanced organizing body. For M.Tech: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks (or 6.0 CGPA) and a valid GATE score. For B.Des: Completion of 10+2 in any stream with a valid UCEED rank.
