Admission Process Flow
Admission to the flagship B.Tech program at VIT is strictly based on the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE). The process involves: 1. Online registration and application through the official portal. 2. Appearing for the computer-based VITEEE exam. 3. Shortlisting based on the All India Rank (AIR) in VITEEE. 4. Online counseling where candidates select their campus and branch based on rank and seat availability. 5. Allocation of seats in one of the five fee categories (Category 1 to 5) depending on rank. For Postgraduate programs, VIT accepts VITMEE or GATE for M.Tech, and CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT/NMAT for MBA, followed by an interview. PhD admissions are conducted through the VITREE (Research Entrance Examination).
General Eligibility Criteria
For B.Tech: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology with a minimum aggregate of 60% (50% for SC/ST and candidates from North-Eastern states/Jammu & Kashmir/Ladakh). The candidate must have been born on or after July 1, 2003. For M.Tech: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least 60% marks is required. For MBA: A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with at least 60% aggregate and a valid score in national-level management entrance exams.
