Ph.D. in Engineering (Various Specializations)

• Master's degree in Engineering/Technology (M.E./M.Tech) or equivalent in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology (B.E./B.Tech) with a minimum of 80% marks or 8.0 CGPA from a recognized university/institute.
• Valid GATE/NET score or equivalent national level examination is required.
• Admission is based on academic qualifications, research proposal, and performance in a written test and personal interview conducted by the respective school.

Admission Process for Ph.D. Programs:

• Admissions are conducted by individual schools (e.g., SCEE, SMME, SCENE, SBB) through a multi-step process.
• Candidates must apply online through the official IIT Mandi admissions portal (iitmandiadm.samarth.edu.in) when a call for applications is open for the desired semester (Odd/Even).
• Applications are shortlisted based on the candidate's academic profile and GATE/NET scores.
• Shortlisted candidates are called for a written test and/or a personal interview (which may be conducted as a walk-in interview).
• Final selection is based on the candidate's performance in the interview, their academic record, and the relevance of their proposed research area to the school's expertise.
• Admissions are offered under Regular (full-time with Institute Research/Teaching Assistantship) and Part-Time modes.
