Admission Process Flow
Admission to IIT Roorkee is strictly merit-based and conducted through various national-level entrance examinations. For Undergraduate (B.Tech/B.Arch) programs, candidates must qualify for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced, with seat allotment managed via the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling process. Postgraduate (M.Tech/M.Plan) admissions are primarily based on GATE scores followed by COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) counseling. MBA admissions require a valid CAT score followed by a personal interview, though IIT graduates with a CGPA of 8.0 or above are often eligible for direct shortlisting. M.Sc. admissions are through the IIT JAM exam, and Ph.D. admissions involve a combination of GATE/NET scores and institutional interviews.
General Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria vary by program: 1. For B.Tech: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, securing a minimum of 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD). 2. For M.Tech: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD) and a valid GATE score is required. 3. For MBA: A graduation degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks and a valid CAT score. 4. For Ph.D.: A Master's degree in the relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST/PwD) along with qualification in a national-level test like GATE, UGC-NET, or CSIR-NET.
